Bates Motel
The Season 2 finale of "Bates Motel" will air on A&E on May 5 at 10 p.m. EDT. A&E

Murder, kidnapping and drugs … oh, my! “Bates Motel” had an explosive sophomore season, hooking fans on the mysterious and deadly happenings in White Pine Bay. But unfortunately every good thing has to come to an end, and on May 5 Norma and Norman will be preparing to lock the motel doors with the Season 2 finale.

When viewers left off, Norman had been kidnapped by Nick Ford and locked in a box in the woods. The drug lord was using the teen in an attempt to get Dylan to kill off his competition, but unfortunately his plan backfired. While Dylan did try to kill Zane, he ultimately ended up failing and was forced to confront Nick Ford with the news. When Nick Ford pulled a gun on Dylan, Norma’s eldest son was forced to fight back -- potentially killing his enemy by striking him with a fire poker across the face.

Dylan managed to escape Nick Ford’s house, but left without finding out his brother’s location. However, the time Norman spent in the box might have done him some good … because he finally remembered what happened the night that Miss Watson drove him home.

In a flashback, Norman discovered that Miss Watson had seduced him. And while Norman didn’t fight her off, the event must have been traumatic for him because he “blacked out” the situation and hallucinated his mother.

“You know what you have to do,” the hallucination told him. And Norman grabbed a knife and cut Miss Watson’s throat. He then proceeded to rinse off the blood and take her pearl necklace as a souvenir before leaving her apartment.

With Miss Watson’s murder finally solved, what does it mean for the Season 2 finale of “Bates Motel”?

According to a leaked synopsis for episode 10, “The Immutable Truth,” Norman will be haunted by a “tragic event from the past” -- more than likely his involvement in the death of Miss Watson. And while the promo video for the finale shows that he’ll manage to escape Nick Ford’s box, his mental state will be battered.

“There is something I need to tell you mother,” Norman says to Norma over their kitchen table. “Something I began to realize when I was in that box.”

Norma’s face pales as her son opens up to her, but the single mother will find herself in a much worse situation by the end of the episode. Despite Norman telling her how much he loves her and how she means more to him than his own life, the teen will ultimately end up holding a gun to his mother’s head.

“I’m sorry mother,” Norman says with a crazed look in his eyes. “I didn’t mean to hurt you. But I am going to do this.”

What leads Norman to threaten his mother remains to be seen, but that’s not the only issue to plague the mentally unstable teen in episode 10. Romero will finally get Norman strapped in for a polygraph test about Miss Watson’s death.

“Did you kill Blaire Watson?” Romero’s old cop friend questions Norman.

But will Norman confess in “The Immutable Truth”?

Meanwhile “Bates Motel” fans can also look forward to Romero and Dylan teaming up to end the drug war; Norman clueing Emma in on some of his family drama; and Emma making a “decision about her future.”
