From little black dresses to bejeweled black gowns, it was certainly clear which color was the favorite at the 2012 National Board of Review (NBR) Awards Gala held at Cipriani 42nd Street, New York City.

George Clooney's girlfriend, Stacy Keibler, who arrived in a black Marchesa gown with jeweled neckline details for the event looked stunning. The 32-year old former professional wrestler completed her ensemble with Brian Atwood heels and a sparkling hard Jimmy Choo clutch bag, the Daily Mail reported.

Pirates of the Caribbean star Keira Knightley opted for a black chiffon dress and paired it with black stockings and stilettos, while actress Felicity Jones walked the carpet in a sheer Dolce & Gabbana black dress. Both Felicity and Dragon Tattoo actress Rooney Mara were honored with the Breakthrough Performance Award at the event. The 26-year-old Mara also stepped out in yet another black dress, this time by Miu Miu, which she paired with Yves-Saint Laurent heels.

For over 102 years the National Board of Review has worked to support art and entertainment films. Apart from this, the organization also works to foster commentary on all aspects of film production, as well as underwriting educational film programs and seminars for film students.

The NBR determines the winners by an annual ballot sent in from the 110 members. These members include known film enthusiasts, academics, filmmakers and students in the New York metropolitan area.
