The Blacklist: Redemption” episode 2 may bring Scottie Hargrave (Famke Janssen) closer to finding out the truth about her son, Christopher.

NBC has released the synopsis and trailer for “The Blacklist: Redemption” episode 2, titled “Kevin Jensen,” which tease the new mission that the Halcyon team will be taking on this week, according to TV Guide. Led by Scottie, the mercenary team, including Tom Keen (Ryan Eggold) and Matias Solomon (Edi Gathegi), will try to rescue an American journalist who has been accused of espionage. It looks like Scottie has a vested interest in the rescue operation as the journalist in question is one of her close family friends.

“When an American journalist and close family friend of Scottie (Famke Janssen) is falsely arrested for espionage in a dangerous foreign country, the Halcyon team mounts a last-ditch effort to rescue him before time runs out,” read the synopsis for “The Blacklist: Redemption” episode 2.

Based on the trailer for the second episode of “The Blacklist” spinoff, there will be more than a few obstacles standing in Scottie and the team’s way before they can even begin their rescue mission. The government does not approve of their plan, but Scottie insists that she can bring him back safely and without starting a war.

Aside from their new mission, the trailer also hinted at Scottie getting closer to the truth about her missing son. She reveals to Tom that the father of her child, Howard (Terry O’Quinn), had tried to find their son before he died in a plane crash. “Before he died, Howard hired someone to track down our son Christopher. If there is any chance he’s out there, I will find my son,” she promises Tom.

Safe to say, Scottie still has no idea that Tom is Christopher and that he is already aware of of his connection to her. She also doesn’t know that the ex-husband she thought had died is still alive and has recruited their son to spy on her.

In “The Blacklist: Redemption” episode 1, Howard lured Tom to New York by having his attorney call him for a meeting regarding his private will. However, when Tom arrived there, there was no meeting about a will because his father didn’t die in a crash after all. Upon meeting at the Washington Square Park, Howard confessed to Tom that he has been looking for him for the past 30 years and that Scottie had sabotaged the plane he took so she could take over his company. He then asked him to infiltrate Halcyon and to get closer to Scottie so they can figure out what she’s planning.

Find out what happens when “The Blacklist: Redemption” episode 2 airs on Thursday, March 2 at 10 p.m. EST on NBC.
