The Blacklist Scoop
Tom's (Ryan Eggold) past demons will come back to haunt him on "The Blacklist" Season 3, which could impact his relationship with Liz (Megan Boone). NBC

When "The Blacklist" Season 3 comes back to NBC, it looks like Liz (Megan Boone) and Tom (Ryan Eggold) are going to finally tie the knot. Although it appears their rocky relationship has finally found stability, someone from Tom's past is expected to come back, which could throw a monkey wrench into their situation.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Tom's former spy handler and mentor The Major (Lance Henriksen) will return. When he shows up he'll have some "unfinished business that may put Tom and Liz’s future together in jeopardy."

The Major was last seen in Season 2 of "The Blacklist." After discovering that Tom was in love with Liz, he believed Tom was a liability and his feelings could get in the way of his spy mission in Germany. The Major was going to have Tom killed, but it never happened because Tom was captured by the Germans first. Could The Major be back to finish off Tom?

If The Major does try to kill Tom again, it will be interesting to see what Red (James Spader) decides to do. It's no secret he's not a fan of Tom and he doesn't believe Tom should be married to Liz or that he's good enough to raise her child. However, Red does care for Liz and he has hunted down The Major before.

Despite knowing how Liz feels, Red is shown trying to talk Liz out of marrying Tom in the promo video for the returning episode in April. The video shows Liz getting ready for the wedding while Red tells her that "Tom isn't the person she thinks he is." Red believes he is a criminal and that he's never going to change. Is it possible Red knows something about Tom that The Major also knows?
