  • Chris Hemsworth's “Extraction” is getting a sequel

Blake Lively is set to star in an upcoming Netflix thriller.

The streaming giant is developing another thriller after the huge success of Chris Hemsworth’s “Extraction.” Netflix is considering a possible trilogy about a post-apocalyptic thriller entitled “Dark Days at the Magna Carta.” Lively is set to star in the film, Variety first reported.

She was last seen in the action-thriller “The Rhythm Section.” Unfortunately, the movie was a major disappointment to Paramount because it only made $6 million at the worldwide box office. Lively’s film credits include “The Age of Adaline,” “The Shallows” and “A Simple Favor.”

Lively will also be producing the thriller through her B for Effort production banner along with Kate Vorhoff. Shawn Levy will also produce the project through 21 Laps.

Michael Paisley will write the screenplay. The film will be set amid a devastating event and the story will follow a woman who will be going to extreme lengths to survive and save her family.

Meanwhile, Hemsworth recently thanked the fans for making his thriller movie “Extraction” a massive hit on Netflix.

“Hey, what’s up guys, I hope you are doing well. I just want to say a massive thank you, everyone, who checked out ‘Extraction’ – you have made it the number one film on the planet right now, and it looks like it is going to be Netflix’s biggest feature film of all time, which is absolutely mind-blowing,” the “Thor: Raganarok” actor said on Instagram.

He also shared that many people were asking if there would be sequels or prequels. He then admitted that he is open to reprise his role.

“There has been a lot of talk and questions about sequels and prequels and all sorts of things, and all I can say is, who knows? But with this amount of support, it is something I will be pretty stoked to jump back into,” Hemsworth added.

A day after Hemsworth’s post, Netflix agreed to make a sequel for the movie. “Avengers: Endgame” co-director Joe Russo has been tapped to pen the script.

“The deal is closed for me to write ‘Extraction 2,’ and we are in the formative stages of what the story can be. We are not committing yet to whether that story goes forward, or backward in time. We left a big loose ending that leaves question marks for the audience,” Joe told Deadline.
