Cissy Houston vehemently refutes statements by Bobby Brown over the weekend saying the condition of Bobbi Kristina, his daughter with the late megastar Whitney Houston, had improved. Her grandmother, however, said the brain damage Bobbi Kristina sustained is “irreversible” and that she remains unresponsive.

"Meeting with the doctors and understanding that she can live in this condition for a lifetime truly saddens me,” Houston, 81, said in a statement to TMZ. "I have just returned from visiting my granddaughter Bobbi Kristina in the hospital and while she is no longer in a medically induced coma she has a tracheotomy and according to the doctors she has global and irreversible brain damage and remains unresponsive." But she hasn’t given up all hope. "We can only trust in God for a miracle at this time. Keep us in your prayers,” Houston added.

Her statement directly contradicts what Brown said -- even after he clarified his earlier comments. At first he said she was awake, but he later issued an update that stated Bobbi Kristina had shown improvement but her quality of life would not be known for years.

Brown’s sister, Leolah, took to Facebook to slam “liars” who said her niece was not waking up. She claimed they just want her money. "Those who lust for Bobbi Kristina's money and seek to benefit from her tragedy! In spite of what they may say!!! You heard her father~my brother~Bobby Brown! He stood & told the world~BOBBI KRISS IS WAKING UP! It is evidently clear that she is still with us! Correct?" she wrote in a lengthy post.

Cissy Houston has not responded to Leolah’s statement.

Bobbi Kristina, 22, has been unresponsive since she was found facedown in a bathtub at her Atlanta home on Jan. 31. She remains at Emory University Hospital. Some suspect boyfriend Nick Gordon is guilty of foul play, though police have not charged him with anything.
