Authorities are on the hunt for a man who allegedly attempted to lure two young boys in a Brooklyn, New York neighborhood into his car with candy.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Shore Boulevard and Norfolk Street in Manhattan Beach, the New York Police Department's (NYPD) Crime Stoppers division said in a statement released Monday.

According to the authorities, the man drove by the two children and asked if they wanted candy while motioning for them to enter his car.

Footage of the incident released by the NYPD showed the man on the driver's seat of a red sedan looking at something out of frame. He could be seen lowering the front passenger seat's window and motioning with his hands to come closer to the vehicle while holding what appeared to be candy.

The driver took off when the children's father came over, WCBS-TV reported. The two boys, aged 5 and 7, were reportedly not harmed in the encounter.

Police are offering a reward of up to $3,500 for any information that can lead to the man's identification and arrest.

Local police in a Bergen County, New Jersey community issued warnings to the public early last month after receiving reports of two separate incidents where a man allegedly attempted to lure children into his car.

The first encounter occurred on April 8, when a man pulled up his car beside an 8-year-old boy riding his bicycle near Azalea Street and Roosevelt Boulevard and asked the child if he wanted candy. The boy told police the man appeared to be 20 to 30 years old and had spiky hair.

The second incident happened on May 3, when a 10-year-old girl walking near Van Binsberger Boulevard and Midland Avenue was approached by a man with similarly spiky, blond hair in a dark-colored Jeep Wrangler and asked if she needed a ride. Police said the girl described the man as being heavyset and appeared to be in his 30s or 40s.
