“It’s called ‘The Hurting. The Healing. The Loving.’ and it’s about the past couple of years of my life. I was in a really tough place emotionally and the whole album-making process helped me to deal with my emotions and bring me out of it,” she explained.

Cabello left Fifth Harmony in December 2016 after nearly five years with the successful singing group. In a Twitter post announcing her upcoming singles, “Crying in the Club” and “I Have Questions,” the singer revealed that her album was a source of therapy to get over such an unhappy time in her life, where she was forced to sing music that she could not relate to.

“I was completely broken during that time, I was in the kind of pain that’s uncomfortable to talk about, and it was the kind of chapter you never want to read out loud,” Cabello wrote in her lengthy post.

“As I got happier and happier, I realized the songs were getting happier and happier. And I realized I wasn’t making music just to make an album anymore, I was making this music to heal,” the songstress revealed.

Going forward and focusing on the future, Cabello revealed that her new music is inspired by her personal experiences.

“Most of the songs are about a friendship, and then a couple are about boys or even situations that I’m observing from afar,” she said.

Among her plans for the future are the hopes of another collaboration with Ed Sheeran, who contributed one song to the upcoming album already.

“ Ed and I really want to do one together. I’ve asked him to send me guitar ideas that we can start writing to. We’re going to make it happen – it’s going to happen!” she said.

She also dished on the track they did work on that is on her album, and what they both hope to do for a second song.

“We worked together on a track for the album that he wrote with me in mind. I changed the title to ‘The Boy’ and changed some of the lyrics to make it relate to an experience I had gone through,” she explained, before adding that she "literally emailed him yesterday because we want to do a Spanish song together. ”

Cabello was recently praised for her appearance on British radio station Capital FM where she sang a cover of Justin Bieber’s vocals on Luis Fonsi’s “Despacito.” She has since revealed that Spanish music is something she knows all too well.
