A woman shot and killed a suspected carjacker in "self-defense" after stealing one of the suspects' guns during an armed robbery in Las Vegas, Nevada, last month, according to police.

The unnamed victim and a friend had been sitting in a parked car near their other friend's house on San Miguel Avenue and Coleman Street in Las Vegas waiting to go to a party on Nov. 19, Fox 5 Las Vegas reported.

While they were waiting, another vehicle parked in front of their car, and three men jumped out and pointed their guns at them, the women reportedly told Las Vegas Metropolitan Police. They said the men screamed at them to get out of their car.

One man pulled the woman in the driver's seat out of the vehicle and then jumped into the car and tried to drive. According to the woman, the man struggled to get the push-to-start vehicle started, local outlet KSNV reported, citing police reports.

The man put his gun on his lap while attempting to start the car, and that was when the woman grabbed the gun through the open window and ran away.

One of the men chased her and tackled her from behind. The woman then turned toward him and fatally shot the man in the head using the gun, according to the police report.

The woman told police that another one of the men started shooting at her. She ran and hid in a nearby yard and came out of hiding when the police arrived.

North Las Vegas police arrived at the scene of a reported homicide, KTLA sister station KLAS reported. The woman was put into handcuffs but told she was not under arrest.

Police described the shooting as a case of self-defense in their report, according to KSNV.

The ski mask-wearing carjacker was extensively bleeding from the head when authorities arrived. The man, who was not identified in the reports, was pronounced dead at the scene.

One of the suspected attackers was arrested Friday. He was identified as Jaylin Morrison, 18.

Detectives investigated and identified Morrison as a suspect in the attempted carjacking based on cell phone GPS records.

Morrison was booked into Clark County Detention Center on $50,000 bail. He is facing charges of first-degree kidnapping, attempted robbery, burglary with a deadly weapon, and conspiracy to commit robbery.

Morrison is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 20.

During Morrison's arrest, another person inside the apartment told detectives that he had been in the car with Morrison during the carjacking.

However, that person was not identified, and it was not immediately clear if they were also arrested and charged as of this writing.
