Carrie Fisher’s brother, Todd Fisher, recently confirmed that his late sister will be making an appearance in “Star Wars: Episode IX.”

According to Deadline, the actress was able to finish filming all of her scenes in “Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi” before she passed away in December. Shortly after her demise, Lucasfilm announced that they will not include Fisher’s scenes as Princess Leia in the ninth installment for the franchise. But Todd just confirmed that the production company reached out to them.

While speaking with the New York Daily News, he explained that he and Billie Lourd agreed to grant the studio rights to use Fisher’s footage for the last film. “She’s as much a part of it as anything and I think her presence now is even more powerful than it was, like Obi Wan – when the saber cuts him down he becomes more powerful. I feel like that’s what’s happened with Carrie. I think the legacy should continue. I’m not the only part in that equation, but I think the people deserve to have her. She’s owned by them,” he said.

Todd is also confident that the studio will find a wonderful way to include the late Fisher’s character into their storyline. “You don’t mess with this legacy. It would be like rewriting the Bible. To me, ‘Star Wars’ is the holy grail of storytelling and lore and you can’t mess with it,” he concluded.

Fisher will also star in the third seasons of Amazon’s original series, “Catastrophe,” where she will reprise her role as Mia. The veteran actress has already wrapped up filming before she passed away. “Catastrophe” Season 3 will premiere on Amazon on April 28.
