A 41-year-old woman has been arrested after police found her son sitting on a bed that was covered with marijuana inside a motel room in Pennsylvania.

Another child, who was found wandering the halls of the motel Tuesday, led the officers to the room, reported Times Leader. Police said both children belonged to the woman.

According to court documents, Katherine Wiegopolski, of Mark Drive, Hanover Township, was charged Thursday with two counts of endangering the welfare of children and one count each of tampering with evidence, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct.

The documents did not specify the age of the children but mentioned they were both below six.

Police arrived at Motel 6 on Schechter Drive just before 7 p.m. Tuesday following reports that a child was found wandering the halls without adult supervision. The motel clerk told officers the child was with Wiegopolski when she checked in an hour before.

Officers had to repeatedly knock on the door before Wiegopolski answered it. There was a strong odor of marijuana inside the room. The woman's son was sitting on the marijuana-covered bed and a sandwich bag that was ripped open was found nearby. Officers said it appeared that the boy opened the bag himself.

Wiegopolski told them the marijuana belonged to her elder son and tried to clear it immediately though officers instructed her not to tamper with the evidence.

Wielgopolski appeared intoxicated and had taken Xanax. She then began shouting, forcing other motel guests to come out of their rooms to see what was happening.

Police took her into custody and placed her in a holding cell at township police headquarters. At the time, she threatened an officer saying, "Wait till I see you in the street. I'll put a bullet in your (expletive) head," the court records said.

Police said Wiegopolski has a concealed weapon's permit. She is currently at the county correctional facility on a $ 50,000 bail.

In a similar incident, a young boy was found dead at a motel in South Los Angeles on Tuesday morning. When officers arrived at Rosa Bell Motel, they found the child unconscious and not breathing. He was rushed to a hospital but he died there. Police said the child's father is a person of interest.
