A Portland woman filed a lawsuit against restaurant chain Chuck E. Cheese after her hair got caught in a ticket machine.

Ashreana Scott filed the lawsuit against CEC Entertainment in Texas for the incident that unfolded at a Chuck E. Cheese in Southeast Portland on Dec. 8. Scott’s hair reportedly got caught in one of the location’s ticket machines that count tickets for prizes. She was stuck in the machine for 20 minutes until an employee was able to get her free, according to the Oregonian.

Scott is suing CEC Entertainment for $1,000. She is also asking for a trial and better warning signage by the ticket counting machines.

Scott’s lawyer, Michael Fuller, said she suffered “injuries including pain, discomfort, distress, and headaches” as a result of the incident.

“Defendant failed to use reasonable care in the design and layout of its ticket counting machine to ensure that guests like plaintiff would not get their hair caught in the machine,” Fuller said. “Defendant failed to use reasonable care in the training and supervision of its employees to ensure that guests like plaintiff would be promptly freed, should their hair get caught in defendant’s ticket counting machine.”

Scott was told by CEC Entertainment to reach out to her insurance company, but it refused to pay. Fuller said this left Scott “no choice” but to file a lawsuit against the CEC Entertainment.

CEC Entertainment did not comment on the lawsuit.
