A cobra tried to attack a wildlife expert in India while being pulled out of the shoe where it was found hiding.

The incident, which was captured in a now-viral video, was reported from the city of Chandigarh in Punjab which is on heavy rain alert for the next two days, Tribune reported.

Shared by Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Susanta Nanda via Twitter, the clip shows the wildlife expert carefully pulling at the training sneaker with a snake tong, Hindustan Times reported.

The officer advised people to be careful since snakes can be found in the most unexpected places during the monsoon.

"You will find them at the oddest possible places in monsoons. Be careful. Take help of trained personnel," he said in the caption. He also disclosed that the video was sent to him via WhatsApp.

Only a faint hissing sound is heard in the video at first. But as the wildlife expert nudges it more, the cobra emerges with its hood spread wide.

The visibly agitated snake then appears poised to attack.

The wildlife expert then explains the importance of dusting one's shoes before wearing them, adding that it pays to be alert and careful, especially during rainy season.

As the video progresses, the snake can be seen repeatedly trying to lunge at the wildlife expert.

The clip eventually ends with the wildlife expert successfully rescuing the snake.

While some social media users found the video "scary," others expressed their appreciation for the IFS officer for sharing such an informative clip.

Nanda also created a buzz last month when he posted a rescue video of a leopard that had fallen into a well. In the said clip, the leopard could be seen being lifted from the well. It flees the scene as soon as the rescue wraps up.

"Another rescue of leopard from the open well using the Mohenjo Daro Harappan technology. This will stop only when we close the open wells around the animal habitat," the IFS officer wrote in the caption.
