Conservative commentator Tomi Lahren came under fire on Twitter after a November 2020 tweet about the “peacefulness” of Trump supporters resurfaced after Wednesday’s violent riot.

“If @realDonaldTrump were to lose (he won’t) his supporters, will go to work tomorrow just as we do every day,” Lahren wrote in her post. “When Biden loses, his ‘supporters’ will likely loot and riot. Tells you everything you need to know.”

The older tweet earned new attention and a fair share of mocking, in light of this week’s events, most notably from Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York.

“You really don’t get it,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted at the pundit. “You legit said your side wouldn’t do this s---. Yet here we are. Smoking that Tomi pack.”

Lahren was again taken to task after she compared the violent rioters who stormed the Capitol to Black Lives Matter protesters.

“I am very disappointed in the acts of destruction/lawlessness at the Capitol today, but for liberals to act like they are suddenly so appalled and disgusted by chaos and protest is the biggest load of BS,” she wrote. “Y’all loved this kind of thing (and worse) all summer. Save your crocodile tears!”

That comment spurred more further Twitter battles.

“There’s a huge difference between protesting for your life & and your rights & ‘protesting’ because you’re a sore loser twizzler,” one user posted.

Lahren also appeared on Fox News, where she expressed her disappointment in the riot, but also her continued support for President Trump.

“What happened yesterday does not make me love my president any less. I think he could have handled it better, certainly. I’m very disappointed in a lot of my fellow Trump supporters,” she said. “… However, I think the legacy of this president is one of greatness.”

But even Lahren wasn’t so sure about a Trump 2024 campaign.

“I don’t know that’s the best idea, given all of this,” she said. “But I think we are going to need a leader that is Trump-like. I think we’re going to need someone that is unapologetically and unabashedly conservative, America-first patriotic. Whoever that may be, I hope that they rise from the ashes and take on this challenge because we certainly need a leader.”
