A video clip of a male police officer punching a female in the face has gone viral. The event took place over St. Patrick’s weekend in Chester, Pennsylvania. Witnesses, who chose not to be identified, said the woman, Dominique Difiore, struck the officer first, NBC10 reports. After she was hit, the police officer then tased her.

“Her whole ear was gushing blood,” Jaylene Westfall, who was also arrested, told CBS. “She was nonstop bleeding by the ear. She was in shock.”

Difiore, 20, and Westfall, 19, as well as two other individuals, were arrested and charged with aggravated assault and alcohol-related offenses after police were called to a local residence.

According to reports, the group tried to enter a house party but were denied, leading Westfall to allegedly assault two of the residents before she and her friends kicked in the front door and reportedly continued their attack.

Witnessed told CBS the incident occurred during a Widener University pub crawl, and residents are in disbelief. “I was shocked,” witness Latine Bethea said. “I was really shocked. I couldn’t believe a man hit a female like that.”

Cameron Thomas, another witness, said Difiore fell instantly. “He dove to the ground and then tased her,” Thomas said. “That’s what made it excessive.”

Chester police have since released a statement about the viral video clip, saying, “A partial video of the event is circulating on various social media platforms. The incident, the video and the level of force used in connection with the event are all currently under investigation.”
