Charlotte, North Carolina -- Comedian Craig Robinson evacuated his comedy show in Charlotte after an armed man threatened to open fire at the club where he was set to perform. The man entered The Comedy Zone after 9 p.m. Saturday, wielding a gun and commanding everyone to leave.

The people at the club, including Robinson, immediately headed to a next-door venue for safety and the comedian’s show was cancelled. The gunman later opened fire outside the club.

Robinson shared his experience on Instagram and assured fans that he was safe after the incident. “I’m performing at the Comedy Zone in Charlotte, North Carolina. There was an active shooter in the comedy club. So, they moved us over to this—there’s a concert going on so I thought I’d just share with y’all,” he said.

“I’m safe. I’m cool. It was wild I was in the green room and they’re like ‘everybody get out!’ It was a moment for sure,” he added.

He posted the update from a concert by Big Time Rush, while the band was playing “Halfway There” at the Charlotte Metro Credit Union Amphitheatre just meters away from the Comedy Zone.

“Again, there’s an active shooter at the club I was at, so we had to run over here to this concert. Big Time Rush to the rescue,” he quipped.

Cops arrived at the venue at around 9:15 p.m. after receiving reports of an unnamed male gunman pointing a firearm and making “threats of bodily harm,” the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said, as per The Washington Post.

Officials nabbed the gunman, no injuries were reported in the incident. Authorities did not identify the gunman but revealed he had been previously convicted of felony.

Following the suspect’s apprehension, Robinson once again posted a statement on Instagram to thank the authorities for ensuring their safety. “About last night. Thank you to the Comedy Zone security and staff for getting us to safety quickly. Thank you everyone for your outpouring of support and well wishes,” he wrote.

“Thank you CMPD for swift action in apprehending the shooter. Hopefully he gets the help he needs. Thanks be to God no one was hurt. Please stay safe everyone,” he added.
