Daniel Day Lewis will be playing in Steven Spielberg’s biopic film Lincoln.

The film based on Pulitzer prize winning novel by author and historian Doris Kearn Goodwin’s book, Team of Rivals has a lot of big names working on it, according to Hitflix.com.

The screenplay is by another Pulitzer and academy award winner Tony Kushner. Both Daniel Day Lewis and Steve Spielberg have seven Oscars between them.

The film is being produced by DreamWorks Studios and will focus on the Civil War and Abraham Lincoln’s fight to bring about abolition of slavery. Co-Chairman and CEO of DreamWorks, Stacey Snider said, Throughout his career, he has been exceptionally selective in his choice of material which makes us feel even more fortunate that he has chosen to join with us for 'Lincoln', reports aceshowbiz.com

Spielberg commenting on Daniel Day-Lewis said in a statement, Daniel Day-Lewis would have always been counted as one of the greatest of actors, were he from the silent era, the golden age of film or even some time in cinema's distant future. I am grateful and inspired that our paths will finally cross with Lincoln.

Steven Spielberg’s War Horse based on World War I is expected to hit theaters in 2011 Christmas time. Lincoln will be his second epic on war. The film is expected to be ready for release in 2012.
