Although we’re mere hours away from being able to binge watch 13 full episodes of Marvel and Netflix’s “Daredevil,” fans are just now getting their first look at the classic comic book super hero. After leaking online Tuesday, the studio released a motion poster revealing his iconic red costume.

Previously, in teaser photos and the show’s official trailer, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) was only seen sporting a sort of tier 1 costume, made from various items one would find in the back of his or her closet. Many were quick to notice that the costume was a nod to Frank Miller’s “Daredevil: Man Without Fear” comic book in which the hero sports a ninja-like black costume before ultimately donning his super cool red threads. Still, that left many wondering if the hero in Netflix’s show would ever put on his final hero suit.

In January, Entertainment Weekly put those fears to bed reporting that the show’s creators had every intention of giving Cox a tier 2 costume. Since then, the studio had kept the reveal of his costume a big secret, until now. The motion-poster (below) shows a durable looking shirt and a shiny red helmet with understated horns. If you look closely, you’ll notice that the eyes are blacked out – a nice given that the character is a blind man whose other senses are heightened to a super-human degree.

Funny enough, a still image of the costume appeared online Wednesday by an anonymous Reddit user, according to ComicBookMovie. While the design was unlike anything we’d seen before, many were skeptical of the still image because of its source. The user claimed that he or she found it through Netflix’s servers before it was quickly taken down. Less than 24 hours later, Marvel surprised all of its fans by confirming that it was real.

The video shows Matt Murdock in a suit transform into the black costume we’ve gotten so well acquainted with and then, finally, his updated red suit. As mentioned, the reveal came at the eleventh hour as Netflix will release the full first season of the show at 12 a.m. PDT (3 a.m. EDT). “Daredevil” will be the tip of a larger “Defenders” ice berg that will continue next with “A.K.A. Jessica Jones,” starring Krysten Ritter. After that, Netflix will release “Luke Cage” starring Mike Colter followed by “Iron Fist” whose star has yet to be cast. The four street-level heroes will come together in a 13-episode miniseries titled “The Defenders.”
