The first two “Deadpool” movies were the highest-earning X-Men Fox properties of all time. Until recently, though, fans weren’t sure if Disney’s Fox acquisition would result in more followups to the controversial R-rated Deadpool films.

While star Ryan Reynolds and Disney execs in the past have both said the version of Deadpool we’re all familiar with would pop up in Disney’s Marvel at some point, nobody knew exactly how soon that would be...until now.

During an appearance on “Live With Kelly and Ryan” this week, Reynolds confirmed that not only is a “Deadpool 3” happening, but they are currently in the process of hammering out all of the details.

"We're over at Marvel [Studios] now, which is like the big leagues all of a sudden,” Reynolds told the hosts, as reported by IGN. “It's kinda crazy. So yeah, we're working on it."

After the news dropped, Twitter exploded with excitement, resulting in “Deadpool 3” being one of the top trending topics of the day.

An incredible amount of Twitter users are already asking to see longtime comic book frenemies Spider-Man and Deadpool meet up face-to-face in the MCU.

There is some worry, however. Some fans are expressing their concerns online that the Disney acquisition could mean that future “Deadpool” movies might be PG-13, eliminating some of the appeals of the profane merc with a mouth.

Luckily for fans, it’s been confirmed by co-writer Paul Wernick that Disney has given them permission to make a Deadpool movie much like the previous two, with violence and profanity unlimited.

“Deadpool 3” hasn’t yet been added to the official Marvel Cinematic Universe lineup, but that doesn't mean moviegoers won’t see it in the next few years.
