The Wednesday night Powerball drawing did not result in a grand prize winner for the $66.5 million jackpot with a cash value of $38.6 million.

The winning lottery numbers drawn on Wednesday, Aug. 17 were 23, 28, 41, 50, and 55. The Powerball number was 24 with a Power Play 2X.

Since the latest jackpot has gone unclaimed, the jackpot will grow to an estimated $80 million with a cash payout of $46.4 million. The next drawing will take place on Saturday night.

Along with no grand prize lottery winner for the Wednesday drawing, none of the players became instant millionaires. Players who would have hit the Match 5 would have won $1 million. If players would have hit the Match 5 with a Power Play purchase, it would have put their winnings for the night at $2 million.

Despite the lack of million-dollar wins, several smaller prizes resulted from the pull.

Six players matched the four white ball numbers and the red Powerball, winning $50,000 apiece. Meanwhile, there was one player who hit the Match 4 and the red Powerball, winning $100,000 due to a Power Play purchase.

The rest of the prizes from the night ranged between $4 and $200. A total of 315,864 players won prizes on Wednesday.

The latest Powerball drawing comes after a player in Mississippi won a $500,000 prize. The winning ticket was purchased at Broadway Mart in McComb and matched four out of five white balls plus the red Powerball.

The initial prize was $50,000, but since the player spent the extra dollar for the 10X Powerplay, it increased their winnings to $500,000.

"We love seeing a win like this," Mississippi Lottery Corporation President Jeff Hewitt said. "This is a great example of how choosing the multiplier can really increase a player's winnings!"

Jackpot winners must match the six numbers on their ticket to the drawn six-number combination. Five numbers must be selected from 1 to 69 for the white balls, and a number is selected from 1 to 26 for the red Powerball.

There is a 1 in 292.2 million chance of winning the Powerball jackpot. Powerball drawings take place on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.
