James Holzhauer spent 32 games as a ‘Jeopardy!’ champion, but his reign came to an end in Monday’s episode. The contestant lost the game show during his 33rd game.

The syndicated game show pre-tapes episodes, and Holzhauer’s final “Jeopardy!” episode started airing in some areas Monday morning. He was $58,484 shy of champion Ken Jenning’s record of $2.52 million, according to the New York Times.

“Nobody likes to lose,” Holzhauer told the Times. “But I’m very proud of how I did, and I really exceeded my own expectations for the show. So I don’t feel bad about it.”

Some people learned about Holzhauer’s “Jeopardy!” loss before watching Monday’s episode. Video leaked on Twitter revealing the final results on Sunday.

Though the professional sports gambler’s answer was correct, he didn’t bet enough in the final round. He’d already been in second place with $23,400. Emma Boettcher, a 27-year-old librarian, had $26,600. Both answered the Final Jeopardy question correctly, but Holzhauer only bet $1399, bringing his total to just $24,799. Boettcher, meanwhile, wagered $20,201, bringing her total to $46,801. She’s the new “Jeopardy!” champion.

“What a game, oh my gosh,” host Alex Trebek said after announced the librarian as the new winner.

Holzhauer set some records during his tenure on the long-running game show. He had the second-longest run on the show after Ken Jennings’ 74-game streak. He also has the record for the highest payout in a single game at $131,127. The top ten highest single-day payouts are all held by the Illinois native.

The long-time player had a rather aggressive gameplay style. He went for high-value questions and Daily Doubles right away. His risks paid off for two months of episodes.

He first appeared in the April 4 episode, but “Jeopardy!” was not Holzhauer’s first TV appearance. He was on two other quiz shows, “The Chase” in 2014 (where he won his team $175,000) and “500 Questions” in 2015 (where he lost).
