The Doctor is coming to New York! “Doctor Who” star Peter Capaldi will attend New York Comic Con (NYCC) for the first time this year, and he’s doing it in style. ReedPOP announced the “Who” panel will take place in the Theater at Madison Square Garden.

NYCC mainly takes place at the Jacob K. Javitz Convention Center in Manhattan, but it has been expanding outside programming for several years now. Other venues include Hammerstein Ballroom, Hudson Mercantile, Rock Bar NYC and Littlefield. This is the first time that the convention has scheduled events at the famed theater, though.

Joining Capaldi in Madison Square Garden on Friday, Oct. 7 will be his new co-star, Pearl Mackie. The actress will debut as Bill, the Doctor’s next companion, in the Christmas episode later this year. NYCC will be her first convention appearance. Showrunner Steven Moffat, who is stepping down after this season, will also be with them.

Moffat, Capaldi and Mackie will have plenty to tease by October. They started filming “Doctor Who” Season 10 in June, and small spoilers are slowly coming out. Could they use the panel to announce a premiere date? Or debut a new trailer? We’ll have to wait until fall to find out, but it seems like most Whovians will happily take any bit of information the panelists can give.

The BBC America show is on a longer-than-usual hiatus. BBC One, which airs “Who” in the U.K., decided that they didn't want the show to air against the Olympics or Euros, so the program is not airing regular episodes in 2016. BBC America will air the annual holiday special, but after that, it isn’t clear when in 2017 Season 10 will debut.

After “Doctor Who,” BBC America will continue to show off their programming at Madison Square Garden with panels for both “Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency” and the young adult “Who” spinoff, “Class.” For the “Class” actors, it will be their first American convention appearance.

It sounds like the Theater at Madison Square Garden will still have plenty to offer after the BBC America block. On Saturday, Oct. 8, “The Walking Dead” cast will hold a panel to tease Season 7 of the AMC drama. Other panels are expected to be announced on New York Comic Con’s website before the convention starts on Oct. 6. Attendees will still need a valid NYCC badge to get into the events outside of Javitz.
