Prince Andrew is rumored to want his eldest daughter, Princess Beatrice, to inherit the title of Princess Royal. The title is currently owned by Prince Andrew’s only sister, Princess Anne.

On the online forum site Quora, royal fans shared their thoughts about the issue and one of them said that it would be impossible for Prince Andrew to want Princess Beatrice to inherit the title because he’s aware of the traditions and practices attached to different royal titles.

Nick Hodgson, a royal fan who wrote a letter to Queen Elizabeth II when he was just 9 years old, said that the Princess Royal title was given to Princess Anne because of her position in the order of succession and because she’s the daughter of the current monarch.

“Since Prince Andrew is now so far down the line of succession, there is very little chance he will ever be King. I doubt his daughter Princess Beatrice will ever be called Princess Royal,” he said.

Todd Bartholomew, a self-confessed neo-monarchist, said that he would much rather doubt that Prince Andrew wants his daughter to eventually be referred to as Princess Royal because there are other more likely candidates for the title.

“The current Princess Royal, Princess Anne, will likely be around many years before parting this life. I really rather doubt Prince Andrew is aching for his sister to pass either,” he said.

D. Elizabeth Hamlet, who works at San Juan Unified School District, said that the Princess Royal title is reserved exclusively for the eldest daughter of the current monarch. There can also only be one Princess Royal at any given time.

This means that Princess Anne would get to keep the title until her death even if Prince Charles becomes King and succeeds their mom.

Angel Singer, a fan and student, also said a similar thing. She said that Princess Beatrice can never be Princess Royal because Prince Andrew is not the monarch and he will never be one.
