Donald Trump knows how to ease wife Melania’s tough times.

The first lady has to endure intense backlash since her husband took the high office. Melania was accused of plagiarism and she was also called fake and birther.

In his book “Inside Trump's White House,” Doug Wead shared what the president does to help ease his wife’s tensions.

Wead spent two years in the White House interviewing the Trump family. According to him, the first family dutifully talk about how serving the American people is a privilege and how they sometimes discuss the tension involving them and their critics. He shared that the POTUS “occasionally eases the tension by teasing the first lady.”

“Melania, honey, look at this incredible journey I have brought you on,” Donald told Melania on one occasion. Eric Trump’s wife Lara shared that the topic has become a regular joke between the FLOTUS and POTUS. They are aware at the criticisms subjected towards them especially on Melania. Donald made light of it by kidding his wife about it.

“It’s like a joke between them at every dinner. Everyone is attacking all of us and she’s smeared for no reason other than pure jealousy and he says, ‘Hon, isn’t this amazing? This journey that I have allowed you to come on?” Lara shared.

“And she’s like, ‘Oh yeah, thank you so much.’”

Although, Melania was aware of the scrutiny that their family would face, she was very supportive of Donald’s candidacy. The first lady has always been very positive with her husband’s leadership skills.

In a past interview, Melania said that Donald is a “great leader” and “amazing negotiator.” She said that America needs someone like him.

Twenty years ago, Melania was asked about the possibility of being the first lady. She gave an affirmative answer. She also expressed her confidence in her husband when it came to being president of the country by saying that Donald’s “very smart.”
