  • Dr. Anthony Fauci says he is not letting the news about Brad Pitt’s Emmy nomination for impersonating him get into his head
  • Fauci said his focus is on something else right now
  • Pitt played Fauci in an April 2020 episode of “Saturday Night Live”

Dr. Anothony Fauci said it feels “surrealistic” that Brad Pitt received an Emmy nomination for impersonating him on the hit TV show “Saturday Night Live.”

Speaking in an interview with the Associated Press, the 79-year-old medical expert shared his feelings about Pitt’s nomination and the impersonation he did on the program. Fauci noted that it is surprising to know that someone has been nominated for impersonating him and called the moment surreal.

However, he made it clear that he does not get “distracted” by such news because his primary focus is somewhere else — the coronavirus pandemic.

“I just found out that Brad Pitt was nominated for an Emmy for a special appearance a comedy show (‘SNL’). I do not get distracted by that. I really have to focus like a laser beam on the things that I am responsible for,” Dr. Fauci told AP.

The Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases also shared that he doesn’t let such news get into his head and thinks it is “strange” that people are talking about it.

“I think it is interesting and a little bit strange. There’s one thing for sure that it doesn’t go to my head because I don’t pay much attention to it. I am too busy paying attention to what I really need to do on a day-to-day basis,” Dr. Fauci said during the interview.

The “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood” star played Dr. Fauci in April 2020. In the episode, the actor was seen portraying Fauci while debunking a lot of false information about COVID-19 and telling people to not ingest disinfectants.

At the time, Fauci praised Pitt for the impersonation and said that he is a big fan of the actor. The medical expert also shared that he would want Pitt to play as him if a movie or a TV series about his life gets made.

“I think he did great. I'm a great fan of Brad Pitt, and that's the reason why when people ask me who I would like to play me I mention Brad Pitt. He's one of my favorite actors. I think he did a great job,” Fauci told Telemundo.
