Two youths brutally murdered and beheaded their brother-in-law over a family dispute in the southern Indian state of Telangana. Local media reports said Sunday that the 26-year-old man was killed with a sickle on Saturday evening.

The two men, who allegedly committed the crime, walked into a nearby police station with the severed head. The victim was identified by only one name, Saddam.

"They brought Saddam's head to the police station premises and have surrendered to us. It seems like there were some family disputes going on between them since last two years but we still need to verify the same," local police told NDTV. "The dead body has been shifted to a local government hospital for autopsy."

According to the Times of India, an argument between the three people ensued over Saddam not taking care of his children. It is believed that during the argument, one of the suspect, in a fit of rage attacked Saddam with the sickle from a nearby coconut vend and slashed at his neck. The entire incident reportedly unfolded in public.

Police said that due to the repeated blows to Saddam's neck, the head got detached from the body. The two assailants left the torso on the road and carried the head to the police station. The case is currently being investigated.

In a similar incident in June, a 42-year-old tribal man beheaded his brother while he was sleeping in the front yard of his house in the Sambalpur district of Odisha, India. The accused managed to escape the scene and later walked into a nearby police station with the severed head of his brother. Police said the victim was 38-year-old Satyanarayan Munda. The accused beheaded the victim with a sharp-edged weapon.

Another incident took place in May when a man walked into a police station with his wife’s severed head after killing her in a fit of rage. The incident took place in the eastern Indian state of West Bengal. The man, in his 30s, walked into the police station with a bag containing the decapitated head. Police arrived at the suspect's home and found the woman’s decapitated body in a pool of blood.
