An elderly woman who was attacked and forced out of her vehicle by a carjacker in Brooklyn over the weekend spoke up Wednesday about the harrowing ordeal during which her beloved pet was taken away from her.

The 73-year-old victim told NBC New York that it was the wellbeing of her 9-year-old toy poodle Luna, who was inside her car when it was stolen, that concerned her the most. The dog was still missing as of Wednesday.

The incident took place Sunday when the elderly woman was out for a walk at the Lindower Park on Mill Avenue in the Mill Basin neighborhood. When the victim attempted to enter her car, the suspect, who was walking with a cane, pulled her out by her legs and shoved her to the ground.

"I'm screaming to make people listen, very loud. The man, very strong [sic]," the elderly victim told NBC New York.

After the woman fell on the ground, the carjacker jumped into the car, sped off and swerved, just centimeters away from running her over.

"All I can see is he take the car out, and I'm lucky he don't [sic] kill me with the car," she told the publication.

The woman said she was overcome with grief that Luna, her therapy dog whom she bought in Puerto Rico, was still unaccounted for. The dog was in the passenger seat of the Red Honda Civic at the time of the incident.

The elderly victim is now hoping the dog is found soon.

The woman reportedly suffered a head injury in the attack and was treated at a hospital. She said the carjacking incident caused her deep emotional harm and her sense of safety was gone forever.

"I'm not scared to drive again, I'm just afraid that'll happen again: coming to my car, taking my car away," she said.

The victim's granddaughter, Isabella Pavon, 19, told New York Daily News that the family was grateful that the elderly woman had not been killed in the incident.

"We're very lucky that when the driver pulled away, she was not killed because he drove off only centimeters from running over her head," Pavon told the outlet. "We're very grateful that she's alive, that she's with us."
