After watching Cookie and Lucious finally lock down a talented singer, viewers will have to wait two weeks before they find out how the Lyon family will deal with their latest obstacles on “Empire” Season 5, episode 5.

Fox will not be airing a new episode of the musical drama on Wednesday. Instead, the network will broadcast Game 2 of the World Series. In the latest playoff game, the Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers will return to Fenway Park to battle it out and see which team will move one step closer to taking home the Commissioner’s Trophy.

The Red Sox are currently in the lead after defeating the Dodgers 8-4 in Game 1, but there are still six more games left and plenty of opportunities for either team to walk away as champions of the 2018 Fall Classic.

Unfortunately for “Empire” Season 5 viewers who aren’t baseball fans, they will have to wait two weeks for Fox to release episode 5, “The Depth of Grief.” The Lyon family was last seen signing a new artist, Devon (Mario), who had the potential to change their lives and save them from financial ruin.

However, after learning more about his own struggles and his desire to help his disabled sister, Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) decided Devon was better off with Empire Records because they could give him the money he needed to change his life.

Although she allowed Empire to gain the upper hand in the fight for the gifted singer, Devon felt the Lyon family had his best interests at heart and chose to sign with them. When “Empire” Season 5, episode 5 does premiere, viewers will see the family struggle to get over new hurdles.

While Cookie and Lucious try to help Devon adjust to the pressures of fame and a career in the music industry, Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) will try to convince Tiana (Serayah) he has changed his ways since the shooting incident.

Meanwhile, Jamal (Jussie Smollett) will continue to agonize over Kai’s (Toby Onwumere) disappearance, leaving Cookie to worry about her heartbroken son.

“Empire” Season 5, episode 5, is scheduled to air Wednesday, Oct. 31 at 8 p.m. EDT on Fox.
