If your Christmas wish was to have more gore on TV in 2015, then you’re in luck! According to reports, the 1981 American horror film “Evil Dead” will be reprising its gruesome plot in a 10-episode installment for late 2015 on Starz.

Bruce Campbell, who portrayed Ash Williams in the cult film, dished out scoop to Entertainment Weekly in a lengthy interview, as well as why the “Evil Dead” opted to return as a TV installment.

“We realized if we made another movie, frankly, it would probably be too expensive. But in the format of a TV show, we could give people exactly what they wanted and expand the character and the story even more,” he revealed to EW.

In 2013, the Sam Raimi-directed film returned to the big screen as the fourth installment of the “Evil Dead” franchise. Campbell admitted that although fans were pleased to reunite with their favorite characters, they still weren’t satisfied.

“[Fan reaction to last year’s ‘Evil Dead’ remake] was all, “Yeah yeah, that was nice, fellas, but we still want the real deal,” the actor continued. “This is it. Sam’s back. I’m back. [Executive producer Rob Tapert’s] back. Love it or hate it, this will be the real deal.”

The silver-screen star then teased what fans can anticipate in the 2015 installment. According to the description of Campbell’s character, Ash will be facing his demons, both “literal and personal,” in the TV series. Campbell explained that his character has survivor guilt. But despite Ash’s issues, he’s definitely someone you would want by your side in the world of “Evil Dead” (he does after all have a chainsaw for a hand).

“He’s emotionally stunted. But he’s the guy you want in the foxhole next to you. That’s the funny thing—he’s kind of an idiot, but man, if I had to go to battle, I’d want to be next to that guy, because he’ll bring it if he has to,” Campbell told EW.

It was reported that the miniseries will take place 30 years after the original film. So what has Ash been doing for the past three decades? According to E! Online, the “Evil Dead” protagonist has been “avoiding responsibility, maturity and terrors of the Evil Dead.” However, that will all change when the miniseries airs its series premiere.

The “Evil Dead” star revealed how he plans on preparing himself physically to take on deadites. “I’m going to try to roll back the hands of time a little bit. It’s probably about doing a lot of stretching. And my stunt man will probably be spectacular—this guy’s going to wish his mother never met his father,” he quipped to EW, adding that over the years he’s learned a lot of tricks on how to fight on camera, tricks he’ll have to dust off for the 2015 series. “But yeah, I will have to step up my game a little bit,” he admitted.

Campbell then teased information on other characters that will appear by his side in “Evil Dead.” “It’s a threesome, which is a good number,” he explained of Ash’s counterparts, mentioning that the roles have not yet been cast. “One is a male-bonding situation; the other is father-figure deal, since Ash could have a daughter the same age as this character. Hopefully we’ll pull Ash out of his loner-veteran mode and get him back into being a human being again.”
