This Jedi wasn’t a fan of keeping secrets. Ewan McGregor recently revealed that he knew that he was returning to reprise his role of Obi-Wan Kenobi for the upcoming Disney+ series for over a year, but he had to keep it a secret from the public before the announcement was made this past summer.

Speaking with the Associated Press, the “Star Wars” actor said he had to pretend he didn’t know anything about him coming back to his iconic role, despite hating the idea of keeping it a secret from fans.

"I'm not really brought up that way. I'd much rather be honest with people. But the studios are, and the franchises are, understandably secretive," he said. “And they want to keep everything a secret till they want it released."

McGregor explained during his press tour for "Doctor Sleep" that people would often ask him if he would do an Obi-Wan spinoff.

"Once they started making spinoff movies, there was such a lot of speculation about an Obi-Wan spinoff. And I was asked every time I did an interview by people, would I do it? And it just became embarrassing, because it sounded a bit like I was trying to get the part from Disney. You know, like, I was saying, 'Well, you know. Well, if they give me a call, I'd be, you know, I'd be interested,'" he said.

The Scottish actor was relieved when the secret finally came out after Disney announced the Obi-Wan series in August at the D23 Expo. "And now [that] the cat is out of the bag that we're doing again, I'm really excited about it," McGregor said. "It's a really phenomenal storyline that we're going to tell."

McGregor first took on the role of a young Obi-Wan Kenobi in the "Star Wars" prequel trilogy starting in 1999 with "Star Wars: The Phantom Menace". His character went on to appear in various animated TV series taking place within the "Star Wars" universe.

Expect to see McGregor returning as Obi-Wan in his upcoming series to release sometime next year for Disney+.
