An Ohio man has pleaded guilty to raping and murdering his 10-year-old son who died after enduring years of extreme abuse and torture while being locked up in an attic.

Al-Mutahan McLean, 32, of Dayton, faces 40 to 51 years to life in prison after pleading guilty in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court Wednesday to charges in connection with the death of his son Takoda Collins in 2019, Montgomery County Prosecutor Matt Heck Jr. said in a news release.

McLean's fiancée, 30-year-old Amanda Lee Hinze, also pleaded guilty to manslaughter and multiple charges of child endangerment. She faces nine months to 30 years in prison.

The child was found unresponsive at his home on Dec. 13, 2019, after emergency officers responded to a call from McLean. The boy was taken to a hospital but did not survive.

The medical examiner determined the child had died of blunt force trauma in combination with compressive asphyxia and submersion in water in a bathtub, reported Dayton Daily News.

The investigators found the child had multiple cuts and bruises on his body. According to court documents, the boy was locked up naked in a dirty attic, where he was abused daily.

"McLean was the primary abuser of this child, he beat him on the day of his death, the rape occurred on the day of his death and it was brutal and vicious," Lynda Dodd from Montgomery County Prosecutor's Office said as per WDTN.

Hinze's charges are in connection with her contribution to the abuse and torture of the child.

"Without her spurring him on, without her participating and when Takoda should be punished and abused, it wouldn't have happened," Dodd added.

Hinze's sister, 27-year-old Jennifer Marie Ebert, who was also charged in connection with the boy's death, pleaded guilty on May 27, 2020. She pleaded guilty to charges of involuntary manslaughter and endangering children. However, her case was sealed from the public and she has not been sentenced yet.

"Between 2015 and until the young child's death on Dec. 13, 2019, Takoda was subject to various types of abuse, which escalated into extreme torture," Heck Jr. further said.

Both Mclean and Hinze are scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 29.
