Amidst their game, the father, who had a concealed handgun on the small of his back, fell and went off. The single shot struck both of them in the head, according to RTV6, citing a report from the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

Both victims were rushed to IU Health Bloomington for immediate care. The father was then transferred to IU Health Methodist Hospital where he is expected to recover from his wound.

His son, however, remained in critical condition following his transfer to Riley Children's Hospital.

The names of the victims were not released by authorities so that their family members can be notified.

The incident remains under investigation, added RTV6.
