With less than one month left before AMC debuts Season 2 of its spinoff hit “Fear the Walking Dead,” the network is hoping to get people excited for the return. To do so, a gallery of new teaser photos have been released giving fans an updated look at the characters, as well as some of the conflicts they’ll encounter on the high seas.

The photos were shared exclusively through E! Online and feature seven new images of the cast. Half of them appear to be stills from an upcoming episode, while others are merely character portraits meant to tease the cast’s triumphant return to the west coast zombie apocalypse. The first of the portraits features characters Madison (Kim Dickens) and Victor Strand (Colman Domingo). The pairing of Daniel Salazar (Rubén Blades) and his daughter Ofelia (Mercedes Mason) are featured in another, with the sun setting beautifully behind them. The last is a solo portrait of Nick (Frank Dillane), who, for some reason, is still wearing some of the clothes that he stole in the first episode of Season 1. A similar photo of his outfit can be seen with his sister, Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey), in the tweet below.

It’s unclear exactly how much time has passed since the Season 1 finale and the Season 2 premiere. Although the picturesque images seem to be taken on the water, it was previously reported that the season will not immediately begin with the survivors aboard Strand’s yacht, Abigail. As a result, it makes some sense for Nick to still be dressed in a dead man’s stolen clothes, even if everyone else on the ship appears to have thrown on some new threads already.

In addition to the portraits, the outlet shared some images that tease the survivors discovering something on the water that appears to rattle them pretty hard. Sadly, the photos are spoiler-free, but they do depict Madison’s daughter, Alicia looking at something in the distance through binoculars. Given the fact that the world is coming to a literal end on the mainland, there’s no telling what she could be looking at. However, in a recent interview with The Huffington Post, Cliff Curtis, who plays Travis Manawa on “Fear the Walking Dead,” gave some hints as to what may be threatening Abigail and the souls aboard her.

“We’re out at sea, and we’re not the only ones out there, basically. There’s a whole bunch of people who have the same idea as us. I’m having a great time with the new script. There’s no more slow burn. That’s done with. And a lot more going on.”

“Fear the Walking Dead” returns for Season 2 on April 12. In the meantime, fans have a lot to look forward to in the remaining episode of Season 6 of the network’s flagship zombie series, “The Walking Dead,” particularly the introduction of Jeffrey Dean Morgan as the iconic comic book villain Negan.
