“The Flash” fans haven’t seen the last of Wally yet.

At the end of Season 4, episode 3 of the CW series, Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale), aka Kid Flash, revealed to the team that he traveled to Earth-2 to talk to Jesse (Violett Beane) while they were all busy saving Central City from Becky (Sugar Lynn Beard). Wally shared that Jesse broke up with him to focus on herself, and because he thinks that the team can keep the city safe without him, he decided to stay in Blue Valley for a while to do the same.

But Wally won’t be staying in Blue Valley for a long time. “Keiynan’s a regular,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg assured TVLine and other news outlets on Monday following a screening of this week’s Season 4, episode 4. “We will see him again [next in episode 7].”

When asked why they decided to set Wally aside for a while, Kreisberg admitted that juggling two speedsters on the show is a challenge. “It’s difficult having two speedsters on the show, just creatively and financially,” the exec producer explained. “There are a lot of times where either Barry (Grant Gustin) had to get knocked out so Wally could save the day, or Wally had to get knocked out so Barry could save the day — and just knocking them out, that costs a lot.”

“But Wally is not gone. Wally is not gone, certainly, from the Arrowverse,” Kreisberg reiterated. “And he’ll be back on ‘Flash,’ and more exciting stuff about Wally will be revealed as we move forward.”

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly earlier this month, Gustin said that Wally will try to find his place in the team after the original Flash got out of the Speed Force. “Wally is going on his own journey, where he’s kind of wondering what exactly his purpose is,” Gustin said. “He had always wanted to be a little bit more than he was. I don’t think he loved the idea of being Kid Flash, and I think he thought it was his time, and now Barry’s back and he doesn’t really know how he fits.”

“The Flash” Season 4 airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
