A homeless Florida man was able to live a life of luxury for two weeks after finding a way to sneak into a luxury suite at Al Lang Stadium in St. Petersburg.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, Daniel Albert Neja, 39, was arrested Sunday after he was found in the room he was staying in by a cleaning crew who entered the facility.

“A cleaning crew went into one of these suites that no one had gone into for some time due to COVID-19 and noticed there were blankets and shaving cream and a razor,” St. Petersburg police spokeswoman Yolanda Fernandez told WFLA.

According to the report, officers do not know for sure how Neja was able to enter the stadium, where he had been living since July 26, but that they believed he was able to get in by blending in with the cleaning crew.

Still, Fernandez said, it was surprising that he hadn’t been found earlier, because while the suite had been believed to be unoccupied, there were workers at the facility every day.

“It was kind of surprising though, to see that somebody, maybe one or two nights,” she said. “But to be able to stay there for that long and have nobody notice it.”

Surveillance video showed Neja entering the stadium’s store and food areas, where he ate food he found and helped himself to merchandise for the Tampa Bay Rowdies, who usually play at the stadium.

The clothing he took was valued at $1,043 while he also allegedly consumed $250 in drinks. Neja is currently being held in Pinellas County jail in lieu of a $5,150 bail and faces charges of burglary and resisting an officer without violence.

This was also not Neja’s first run-in with law enforcement. Neja pleaded guilty in July for breaking into Lutz Elementary School in Hillsborough County.
