Fox is reportedly looking to finalize the female lead opposite Channing Tatum in “Gambit,” and Deadline reported three actresses are in running for the role of Belladonna Boudreaux aka Bella: Rebecca Ferguson of “Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation” fame, Lea Seydoux, who was last scene in “Spectre” and Abbey Lee, who played the The Dag in “Mad Max: Fury Road.”They will be testing for the role, the website said.

In the comics, Bella is born Narda Ravanna in Boston. She is a chemist, takes the identity Bella to take revenge on fashion designer Roderick Kingsley, is friends with Gambit/Remy LeBeau since childhood and later marries him. However, when Gambit is forced to leave New Orleans, he abandons Bella.

Bella’s powers include Astral projection and plasma blasts. She made her first appearance in “X-Men: Vol.2 No.8.” and belongs to teams including United Guilds and Assassins Guild. Jim Lee and Scott Lobdell created the character.

It has yet to be confirmed if the character of Bella will appear in “Gambit.” The film is currently in the pre-production stage. Rupert Wyatt is set to direct from the screenplay by Joshua Zetumer. Chris Claremont is writing the characters and treatment.

Though the official plot line is unknown, reports say it will be a departure from normal superhero movies. “None of us were sure how he was going to deal with the X-Men world. But we're going to be changing some of the tropes of these movies. It's always about saving the world, but maybe we're going to shift things a little bit,” Tatum told Empire magazine.

He had confirmed the first draft of the film’s script is ready. “Gambit” is to open Oct.7, 2016.
