  • Despite the cancelation of physical events due to the global pandemic, gaming events have moved online instead and this week will feature two such streaming events
  • Limited Run Games' #LRG3 will stream on Wednesday, July 8, and will highlight physical video games
  • With Ubisoft Forward, expect more details on "Assassin's Creed Valhalla," "Hyper Scape," and "Watch Dogs: Legion" during their July 12 stream

With the coronavirus effectively grounding all physical gaming events like E3 and Gamescom, gaming news for this summer has been moved to streaming and online-only gatherings.

After Sony did their big PlayStation 5 event a few weeks ago, we finally caught a glimpse of what the next-gen console will actually look like. We’ve also been given previews of “Horizon Forbidden West,” “Star Wars Squadrons,” “Cyberpunk 2077,” and “Spider-Man: Miles Morales,” among many anticipated titles.

And the gaming events continue to roll on, pushing through the pandemic to give comfort to gamers globally and giving us hope that when this is all said and done, there’s a video game or two out there just waiting to be played.

The Verge reports that Microsoft has just announced their digital event to show off Xbox Games Studios games set for July 23. “Halo Infinite” will likely be heavily featured then, as well as Ninja Theory’s “Hellblade II,” Double Fine’s “Psychonauts 2,” and Rare’s “Everwild” appearing in some form or another.

This week alone, however, the gaming events won’t be light. July 8 will bring Limited Run Games’ #LRG3 event that is focused on releases of actual physical games. On July 12, Ubisoft titles including “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla,” “Watch Dogs: Legion,” and “Hyper Scape” will take center stage for Ubisoft Forward.

Limited Run Games says #LRG3 will be its “third totally-live, totally-bitchin press conference for the biggest announcements in the future of physical video games.” The event was postponed from its original June 8 air date on June 4. You can watch the stream on Wednesday, July 8, 3:00 p.m. ET on Limited Run Games’ Twitch channel.

Ubisoft Forward is a digital “E3-style showcase” with “plenty of exclusive game news, exciting reveals, and much more.” In addition to “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla,” “Watch Dogs: Legion,” and “Hyper Scape,” Ubisoft plans to show “a few other surprises that will be unveiled during the stream.” Watch on ubisoft.com/forward or on Ubisoft’s Mixer, Twitch, or YouTube channels on Sunday, July 12, 3:00 p.m. ET, notes The Verge.

Dubbed “a summer celebration of Ubisoft’s upcoming lineup of games and content,” the post-show will feature a deep-dive walkthrough of “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla” as well as a “Hyper Scape” show match.
