Viewers who are hoping to catch the newest episode of “General Hospital” on Tuesday, Dec. 31 may be disappointed when they tune into ABC during the soap opera’s normal time slot. On New Year’s Eve, the network is expected to air an encore presentation of the Dec. 29, 2017 episode.

Those who watch the scheduled programming will be taken two years into the past, where Drew (Billy Miller) was still alive, and Sam (Kelly Monaco) was in denial about her feelings for Jason (Steve Burton).

However, thanks to Carly’s (Laura Wright) meddling ways, she managed to trap the two on the Haunted Star together on New Year’s Eve. Although Sam had plans to spend the special night on the boat with Drew, Carly makes sure he has car trouble and misses the chance to be with Sam.

On the boat, Sam and Jason fall into their old tradition and play a few rounds of dominoes with tequila. Eventually, the nostalgia takes over, and the two share a passionate kiss at midnight. The liplock was the first step in the couple’s long-awaited reunion.

Fans, who need a daily “GH” fix may appreciate this episode seeing as the soap opera won’t air again until Wednesday, Jan. 1. Instead, the daytime series will be preempted, and the Vrbo Citrus Bowl between the Michigan Wolverines and the Alabama Crimson Tide. The sporting event is expected to begin at 1 p.m. EST on ABC.

“General Hospital” fans will be reunited with their favorite characters on Thursday when the soap resumes airing new episodes. When the daytime series returns, viewers will see Jason concerned about Sam’s invitation to Shiloh’s (Coby Ryan McLaughlin) memorial.
