KEY POINTS

  • "Genshin Impact's" Beidou is an Electro claymore-user that specializes in mitigating damage and parrying attacks
  • She can deal extreme single-hit damage using her Tidecaller ability
  • Beidou is viable as a Main DPS or Sub DPS character depending on her build

Beidou is one of the many powerful characters in “Genshin Impact.” With a big claymore, a unique parry mechanic and the power of Electro by her side, she can deal absurd amounts damage to enemies in a single hit.

Apart from knowing how to utilize her properly, it’s important to know which weapon to use and which artifacts to build on her. With that said, here’s a short guide on how to use Beidou’s kit as well as a quick look at her best weapons and most desirable artifact builds.

Beidou specializes in absorbing damage and returning it several times over. Her elemental skill “Tidecaller” protects Beidou from damage, with the shield strength scaling off of her max HP. Players can hold down the elemental skill button to maintain the shield for a short duration or after it receives two hits.

After the button is released or the maximum amount of hits is reached, Beidou will unleash a counter-attack that deals more damage depending on the number of hits absorbed. If Beidou is at ascension level four, players can also unleash “perfect counters” by tapping the skill button the moment an attack hits.

Hitting enemies with a fully-charged Tidecaller is the key to maximizing her damage output.

As for weapons, the Prototype Archaic claymore is widely considered to be the best free-to-play weapon for Beidou. It can be crafted at either blacksmith in Mondstadt and Liyue with one Northlander Claymore, 50 white iron chunks and 50 crystal chunks. This weapon has a 50% chance of dealing 240% additional damage on-hit every 15 seconds and provides a decent amount of bonus physical damage as well.

The Serpent Spine is another decent option, but it can only be obtained via the premium battle pass. The Blackcliff Slasher is also a good choice, but it can only be purchased using Starglitter at the in-game shop. Great weapon choices that are locked behind the gacha include Wolf’s Gravestone and the Lithic Blade.

Beidou can work well with either the Thundering Fury or Gladiator’s Finale artifact sets, and players should look for ATK, CRIT RATE, CRIT DMG and HP% stats on individual artifact pieces.

Thundering Fury is better for “Genshin Impact” players who want to focus on using Beidou as a Sub DPS member, maximizing her Tidecaller and Stormbreaker damage. Meanwhile, Gladiator Finale allows for a more consistent damage output with Beidou’s basic attacks, making her a viable candidate as the team’s main damage dealer.
