Marcos will finally meet his baby, Dawn, in Tuesday’s episode of “The Gifted,” but not under ideal circumstances.

When Lorna (Emma Dumont) left Marcos (Sean Teale) in the Season 1 finale to go with the Inner Circle, she was taking their unborn child away from him, too. Last month’s Season 2 premiere of the Fox show picked up six months later and showed her giving birth to their daughter. Eclipse (Teale) only found out because of a major power outage that occurred because of her labor. He didn’t know if the child was alive, if Polaris (Dumont) survived, or where they were.

That all changes in episode 3 of the second season, titled “coMplications.” Baby Dawn is sick, and the Inner Circle believes Marcos is the only one who can heal her.

“He’s actually brought in and gets to meet them for the first time, but not for the reasons that he would’ve thought,” Teale told International Business Times at New York Comic Con over the weekend. “[But it’s] for the wrong reasons, for the unkind reasons. He’s being used. And so, again, he’s being tossed and turned, thrown around like a rag doll, and there’s only so long before a man cracks. So, we’re gonna see how far we can go. We’ve really pushed him. We’re pushing him further.”

The “Gifted” actor teased to reporters at the event that Marcos would be “an immense father” to Dawn if he’s given the chance. He has a lot of daddy issues because his father kicked him out for being a mutant, but that only taught him how not to act as a parent. The new Season 2 episode will feature a flashback of Marcos in Colombia with his father, which will give insight into his thoughts about fatherhood in the present day.

“So, being abandoned by your father, Marcos is an upstanding individual that doesn’t agree with doing that again,” he said. “He doesn’t believe in repeating that mistake. He knows that pain.”

He continued: “You’re gonna see him meet his child for the first time, and I think, hopefully, he’ll give off the impression of how loving a father he would be. He’d be a great dad.”

Also in Tuesday’s episode, “Reed [Stephen Moyer] and Lauren [Natalie Alyn Lind] take an excursion to deliver illegal meds, but Reed’s powers complicate their plans,” the official synopsis reveals. “Then, Thunderbird [Blair Redford] and Blink [Jamie Chung] meet the leader of the Morlocks—a shadowy group of mutants that live underground—who offers to help them find the Inner Circle, but the two factions may not have the same goals.”

“The Gifted” Season 2 airs Tuesdays on Fox on at 8 p.m. EDT.
