Detective Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie, pictured) will be getting some help from Sofia Falcone (Crystal Reed) in bringing down the Penguin (Oswald Cobblepot) in “Gotham” Season 4. Fox

Fans were introduced to Mario Falcone (James Carpinello) in “Gotham” Season 3 as the fiance-turned-husband of Dr. Leslie “Lee” Thompkins (Morena Baccarin), but for Season 4, audiences will finally meet his sister, Sofia.

According to Comic Book, Sofia Falcone will be played by Crystal Reed, best known for her stint as Alison Argent in “Teen Wolf.” She was described as “strong, intelligent and calculating, she has run the Falcone operation in the south for the past 10 years and is returning to Gotham to help Gordon take down Penguin.”

The comic book character was first introduced in “Batman: The Long Halloween.” There, she helped her father track down a family-killing serial killer, only to end up becoming a killer herself as she takes on the secret identity of the Hangman.

It’s unclear whether Sofia in “Gotham” will go down the same dark path on the Fox series as her comic book counterpart, but her presence will definitely be a welcome one in the show.

Penguin, or Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor), really did well for himself even after suffering from pain and loss at the hands of his former friend and love interest, Ed Nygma (Cory Michael Smith). Next season, executive producer John Stephens told Cinema Blend that Penguin’s empire will actually help their re-introduction of the villain Scarecrow, also known as Jonathan Crane (Charlie Tahan).

“At the very beginning of the season, Penguin has solidified his control upon Gotham like never before. Where he’s kind of unionized crime. And Scarecrow comes in to basically reintroduce fear into Gotham and to remind people that the dark is still scary out there,” he said.

“And we’re really going to fashion, especially episode 2, almost a horror movie episode where we really get to see Scarecrow. I think he’s like purely terrifying. Imagine, rather than the other versions of Scarecrow out there - because there are a lot of different versions - what if you just really tell Scarecrow as a horror movie? Because he could be scary as hell.”

“Gotham” Season 4 will premiere on Sept. 28 on Fox.
