If analysts are to be believed, "Grand Theft Auto 5" could sell 6.5 million copies on day one alone, according to IGN. "GTA 5" was released Tuesday for Xbox 360 and PS3.

Arvind Bhatia and Brett Strauser of Sterne Agee had this to say regarding "GTA 5" and its day one sales potential: "We see potential for worldwide day-one sell-through of 6.5 million units [and] $400 million for GTA V."

Colin Sebastian of Robert W. Baird also states that "GTA 5" could earn a whopping $1 billion in sales in the game's first month alone. Here's what he had to say: "Given the significantly higher installed base of relevant console platforms at launch, greater sales concentration among the top video game franchises, and unprecedented pentup demand, we expect GTA 5 to outpace GTA 4 sales, and generate roughly $1 billion in retail sales during the first month."

Considering how highly anticipated "GTA 5" was leading up to its release, we wouldn't be surprised if the open-world action game met these sales figures at all. If recent revelations are to be believed, "GTA 5" could also makes its way to the PC and PS4 as well, which would likely only drive sales of the game further north.
