On Aug. 4, "The Swamp" will premiere on HBO. The political documentary, which centers around Republican congressmen Matt Gaetz (R-FL), Thomas Massie (R-KY), and Ken Buck (R-CO), will follow their individual paths as they answer President Donald Trump's call to "drain the swamp" in Washington, D.C.

While providing "a look behind the curtain" of the current political landscape, those who tune in to watch the new HBO documentary will also be granted "unique behind-the-scenes access to the inner workings of the House amid major breaking news events." The Robert Mueller hearing and presidential impeachment proceedings are two specific events highlighted in the project.

While making "The Swamp," the filmmakers were given "unfettered access" to Gaetz, who is known to be one of President Trump's closest allies in Congress, Massie, who is known in Washington as "Mr. No," and Buck, a founding member of the ultra-conservative House Freedom Caucus.

As a result, the political documentary will follow each politician as they navigate the realities of fundraising and give their honest insight about the current state of politics. It will also provide context surrounding the "prevalence of lobbyists and special interest groups in Washington" that can "influence policy based on financial contributions."

Directed by Daniel DiMauro and Morgan Pehme, the film also promises to offer a "revealing look at the core democratic institution of American government" and demonstrates "the breadth and grip of a system that rewards fundraising above all else, plaguing Congress on both sides of the aisle."

In addition to Gaetz, Massie, and Buck, other members of Congress and political advocates will also make appearances, including former Congresswoman Katie Hill (D-CA), John Sarbanes (D-MD), Harvard Law Professor Lawrence Lessig, and Congressmen Ro Khanna (D-CA).

"The Swamp" premieres Aug. 4 at 9 p.m. EDT on HBO GO and HBO NOW. The film will be available on-demand on Aug. 5.
