When the era of the Jonas Brothers began in 2006, the world was introduced to siblings Nick, Joe and Kevin Jonas and fell in love with them. But there was also another brother the world slowly met, Frankie Jonas.

As the youngest Jonas brother, Frankie wasn’t a member of the family band, but this did earn him the nickname of Bonus Jonas.

That was 11 years ago and Frankie was only five years old. As he got older, he started to join in on the sibling business of entertainment, thought not directly joining the band. Instead, he voiced a character in the animated film “Ponyo” in 2008, opposite Miley Cyrus’ younger sister Noah.

In 2009, he made his Disney Channel debut, playing a fictionalized version of himself as Frankie Lucas, the younger brother to Nick, Joe and Kevin’s fictionalized selves, in the show “Jonas.” He was in 12 episodes of the series and won himself a Teen Choice award for choice TV breakout star male for the role. But that wasn’t his only Disney role, as in late 2010, he once again joined his brothers onscreen, this time to play a junior rocker named Trevor in the “Camp Rock” sequel.

He’s had a few more acting roles over the years, with his last credit being in 2013 for the TV movie “Gutsy Frog,” where he voiced the role of Frankie.

Now he’s 16, about to turn 17 on Sept. 28, and is using social media to show the world who he is now.

One way he’s been doing that is by deleting a bunch of his social posts last year, just to start fresh with a new design for his Instagram feed, which includes a bunch of blank images, which give the overall feed a cool design. He also started anew with his Twitter feed, posting short, straight-to-the-point thoughts.

Though he’s been doing his own thing, which reportedly includes graduating from high school early and starting college courses at Belmont University, he’s still a Jonas brother. That means, he’s always available to have a little onscreen fun with one of his older siblings, which is exactly what happened when Nick asked him to be in his recent music video for his song “Remember I Told You.”

Fans got a glimpse of the Bonus Jonas in the music video, as he jammed on a guitar while standing on a chair. Brother Nick wanted to make sure everyone took notice, even calling Frankie “such a rockstar” in the video on Twitter.

While the youngest Jonas has been keeping out of the spotlight, besides this music video, it seems like people still can’t help but bring him up on Twitter. And, unfortunately, they don’t always have the nicest things to say. Thankfully, Frankie seems to have a sense of humor and even finds these mean tweets – he isn’t tagged, so he must search his name – and then “likes” them. He’s subtlely killing the trolls with kindness. It’s also an easy way to let these Twitter users know that what they’re tweeting can actually be seen by the whole world and to think twice about what they’re writing.

Well done, Frankie. Bonus points for the Bonus Jonas! Though, perhaps it’s time to retire that nickname and just let the world see him as wholly himself for a change. Frankie Jonas it is.
