A video of a pair of honey badgers taking on a pride of lions has gone viral on social media, with people praising the small mammals for their strength.

In the 25-second video, which was posted on Twitter by Susanta Nanda of the Indian Forest Services, the pride can be seen chasing the honey badgers. Just when one of the big cats manages to pounce on a honey badger and clamp her jaws around it, it breaks free and attacks the lioness. As soon as the lioness retreats, the honey badgers square off the pride, forcing them to retreat.

"Pride of the lions pride taken to dust. The honey badger is known for its strength, ferocity and toughness. It is known to savagely and fearlessly attack almost any other species when escape is impossible, reportedly even repelling much larger predators such as lion and hyena," the officer captioned the video.

The video has since gone viral with people praising the honey badgers for their "Herculean strength."

"Every Single predators use to avoid or escape Honey Badger due to their Herculean strength. But they're really..... Hercules of the Animal World," one person wrote.

"One of the most agressive animals after Tasmanian devil, and Wolverine, don't be fooled by their small size, there jaw strength and muscular body is well known in animal kingdom, known to devour every part of there prey including skins and bones," another Twitter user commented.

"Where there is a will, there is a way! When one is ready to face challenges, there is no stopping whatever size they are physically! Mental strength is all that defines a person!" another user wrote.

"Honey badgers are somehow immune to snake venoms. Plus their thick skin helps them avoid the sharp teeth. Very fast, agile and fearless, they are known to bite off the testicles of much bigger animals," wrote a user.

Honey badgers are found in Southwest Asia, Africa and the Indian subcontinent and are known for strength and ferocity.
