Johnny Depp’s career seems to have come to a standstill following his loss in a libel case against The Sun which labeled him as a “wife-beater,” but more info from the case leaking has shown that the actor did try to use his power and influence to derail ex-wife Amber Heard’s career.

The ruling, which came about in November and saw judge Andrew Nicol state that the former “Fantastic Beasts” actor was in fact believed to have committed some of the acts Heard alleged he did throughout their tumultuous marriage, also saw several details come to light about ways that Depp allowed what The Hollywood Reporter calls an “unquenchable thirst for revenge” to cloud how he is seen.

The publication reports that during the trial, Depp admitted texts to his sister, producer Christi Dembrowski, where he said he “wanted her replaced on the WB film,” were in reference to Heard’s role in “Aquaman,” which was just one way he discussed plans to get revenge on her after her claims that she was a victim of domestic violence during their marriage.

In addition, he made vulgar references to plans for revenge to actor Paul Bettany, as well as to CAA agent Christian Carino, who used to rep his ex.

“[Heard is] begging for total global humiliation. She’s gonna get it,” he texted Carino. “...I have no mercy, no fear and not an ounce of emotion or what I once thought was love for this gold digging, low level, dime a dozen, mushy, pointless dangling overused flappy fish market.”

However, while Depp reportedly tried to get Heard removed from “Aquaman,” he was the one who suffered consequences, with it also being revealed in November that he was asked to resign from his role as Grindelwald in the “Fantastic Beasts” franchise. After the announcement, fans came to Depp’s defense, accusing Warner Bros. of having a double standard when it came to both him and Heard since she was still attached to her own project. A petition was even started to try and garner support for Heard’s removal.

As for whether Depp, who has filed an appeal against Nicol’s ruling, can ever come back from this situation, Eric Schiffer, a crisis PR rep, told Hollywood Reporter that with some fans still showing loyalty to the star that it is possible, but he has suffered from a large number of self-inflicted wounds which could have an irrevocable effect.

“He has suffered immense reputational carnage from a reckless set of choices that has left him in septic muck,” Schiffer said. “Can he come out of that? It really comes down to Johnny’s choices. He still has a fan base that in many ways is like Donald Trump’s with their emotional intensity and commitment to a star icon. It’s not based around principles. It’s about charisma and their identification of the range of characters that he’s played.”
