Meghan Markle is rumored to be pregnant with her and Prince Harry’s second child. But until today, no announcement has been made.

There have also been ongoing rumors suggesting that Kate Middleton is expecting her fourth child with Prince William. But even these claims haven’t been confirmed by Kensington Palace.

According to Express, it is unlikely for the Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Sussex to be pregnant at the same time. And the reason has something to do with the sisters-in-law’s position in the British monarchy.

Middleton is set to become Queen after Prince William is crowned as King. And as such, she takes precedence over Markle. The latter is married to Prince Harry, who is sixth in line to the throne. And as such, he will never become King.

If Markle and Middleton are pregnant at the same time, it is likely for them to make an announcement close to each other as well. But the Duchess of Sussex’s pregnancy may overshadow Middleton’s fourth pregnancy.

“ If Meghan were to announce a pregnancy at the same time as Kate than its possible Kate’s news could be overshadowed by Meghan’s and upset the power structure,” the publication claimed.

Several decades ago, a similar thing happened with Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Margaret. However, the royal siblings weren’t both pregnant.

In 1960, the Queen was already preparing to give birth to Prince Andrew when Princess Margaret told her that she and Antony Armstrong-Jones are already engaged. Even though Her Majesty supported her younger sister’s upcoming union, she asked Princess Margaret to postpone her announcement.

The Queen didn’t want the arrival of her third child with Prince Philip to be overshadowed by her sister’s wedding. So, after she welcomed Prince Andrew into the world, Princess Margaret made her announcement one week later.

If Markle and Middleton are pregnant at the same time, Middleton would most likely make the announcement first before Markle.
