Although Prince William and Kate Middleton look like the perfect royal couple, they faced a bit of trouble before they actually walked down the aisle.

Looking back at the 2011 book based on their romance, it was revealed William came close to giving up on his future with Kate due to his parents’ rocky relationship.

In the book, “The Making of a Royal Romance” by Katie Nicholl, the author stated Princess Diana and Prince Charles’ marriage made William doubt his ability to have a happy life with Kate.

According to the writer, Prince William “had witnessed his parents’ marriage crumble under pressure” and he “didn’t want to endure a similar fate.”

Although William felt pressured to settle down in his early 20s, he refused to give in to the expectations of others. While Kate reportedly “longed for security” at the time, she claimed she wasn’t in a rush to settle down and waited for her then-boyfriend to come around.

Prince William finally proposed in 2010 and the pair married the following year. Since then, the couple has welcomed three children together Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

While William and Kate may have had a bumpy start, nowadays, their union appears to be strong. The couple has remained united amid rumors there has been a rift in their relationship with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

Kensington Palace has not commented on the rumored feud.
