Those without a cable subscription can still watch “Game of Thrones” Macall B. Polay/HBO

The Season 8 premiere of “Game of Thrones” is finally upon us, and thankfully, fans who don’t have a cable subscription of their own can still watch with the rest of us (and they won’t have to beg their friends for their cable log-ins to do it either).

While those who have access to the HBO GO subscription through their local cable television service provider are all set and ready to go when it comes to Sunday night’s premiere, those without that same privilege don’t have to worry. In addition, they may have a benefit, at least when it comes to the premiere, because while those who are accessing it through cable are paying to see the show via their cable bills, these options are all free.

So if you don’t have a cable subscription, don’t fear. Here are all the ways you can still watch the Season 8 premiere of “Game of Thrones.”

Amazon: Those who have an Amazon Prime subscription can get access to HBO by Amazon Prime Video Channels. HBO is a paid, standalone channel on the service. Go to amazon.com/HBO to sign up for a free trial. The downside is that it only lasts seven days, and to continue watching the rest of the season beyond the premiere will cost $14.99/month.

DirecTV Now: Sign up for the PLUS package on DirecTV Now for $50/month, and get access to HBO for free as part of your subscription. This works the same as local cable subscriptions.

Free Access For College Students: College students at certain institutions could be in luck, as several universities in the U.S. do have partnerships that provide free HBO Go to their students (with some restrictions). Check out the list of schools that offer it here, and if yours is on the list, click on it and log in using your school username and password.

HBO Now: Those who want the direct HBO access but don’t have a cable subscription can still sign up for service via HBO’s own platform—HBO Now. The service provides the same access to HBO that any other subscription does, and is available for free for 7 days, before reverting to the $14.99/month charge.

Hulu: Sign up for a Hulu base plan starting at just $5.99/month, then sign up to get HBO on Hulu for access to “Thrones” and other series. There too it will be a free 7-day trial before a charge of $14.99/month.

Xfinity: As a part of the annual Xfinity TV Watchathon Week, customers can access the Season 8 premiere of Thrones for free, plus watch every other episode they choose prior to the 9 p.m. premiere on April 14. This deal will allow them to also receive access to other shows and networks as well.

“Game of Thrones” premieres Sunday, April 14 at 9 p.m. EDT on HBO.
