Joe Biden has four children: Hunter, Beau, Ashley and Naomi, who tragically passed away when she was just one year old in a vehicular accident. Hunter is an American lawyer and lobbyist who has had his own fair share of controversies in the past. But now, his role is crucial for the presidential bid of Joe Biden, who has the upper hand against Donald Trump in initial poll results.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, the Wilmington, Delaware native worked as the Vice Chairman of the National Railroad Passenger Corporation. The co-founder of Rosemont Seneca Partners had one of the biggest salaries of his career when he sat as one of the board of Burisma Holdings where the monthly retainer rate pegged at that time was at least $50,000. The former United States Navy Reserve has spent time as a consultant to Delaware Bank from 2001 to 2005. He also became a Washington Lobbyist from 2001 to 2008, a report from Politico revealed. His older brother, Beau Biden, who passed away in 2015 at the age of 46 in 2015 due to brain cancer, also served in the military as a major in the Judge Advocate General's Corps.

Joe Biden’s presidential bid is always going to be affected by his family’s business dealings, which critics claim blur the lines of conflict of interest. Hunter Biden was once on a trip to China where he arranged a meeting between his father and business partner Jonathan Li who is said to be connected to an investment firm. Because of the possible links of his business dealings with the political ties of his father, Hunter vows not to take any board positions in any international companies should Joe Biden win the presidential seat, per USA Today.

The Yale University graduate gave a speech at the Democratic National Convention in August 2020. Unknown to many, his connections with the White House started years ago when he was tapped to be the director in the Department of Commerce by former president Bill Clinton. He resigned when Barack Obama chose his father as his running mate in the 2020 U.S. elections, according to Business Insider.

It is not yet clear how Hunter Biden’s past controversies and business dealings could affect the campaign of his father but from the recent media coverage, the signs say the critics will not stop anytime soon.
